Milestones in our company’s history

1931/32 Dr. Walter Mäder sets up a sole trading company and establishes a varnish and paint factory in Ennetbaden

1939 The sole trading company is converted into a public company

1945 Commencement of synthetic resin production to meet the company's own needs

1947/48 Commencement of thinner production in Killwangen. Construction of the administration block and production facility in Killwangen. Company relocates to Killwangen

1950 First two-component polyurethane varnishes launched on the Swiss market

1956 Production of the first two-component epoxy varnishes

1959 Development of the first water-dilutable stove-enamelling industrial varnish

1963 Launch of the first SBB wagon varnished using water-dilutable coating varnish

 

1979 Vienna sales office opened. Start of development of highly reactive resins for UV drying

1989 Start-up of the new synthetic resin factory

1990 Launch of Switzerland's first aqueous two-component polyurethane coating varnish. Take-over of ADISA SERVICE AG

1992 Walter Mäder Ges.mbH founded in Traiskirchen / Austria

1993 WM-Aqualack GmbH founded in Hamm / Germany

1996 Establishment of the operating companies
Mäder Lacke AG and Mäder Kunstharze AG

1998 Quality Management Certificate No. 80435 issued by SGS in accordance with ISO 9001

2001 Companies integrated into the A&A Mäder Group. With a European workforce exceeding 450, the Mäder Group comprises 10 companies, 8 manufacturing plants and 7 laboratories

2002 Return of the two companies to Mäder AG, divided into Varnishes, Synthetic Resins and Services lines of business
